Frankly, "District 9" was mind-blowingly amazing. I mean, it's definitely my favorite movie of the year and one of my favorites of all time. I went in the theater expecting something in the vein of "Alien" or a torture movie along the lines of "Hostel", but what I got was refreshing, smart, and unpredictable. Also, I liked and hated that main character at the same time. It was awesome.
As for "9"...well, I think I spent a good ten minutes of the climax prioritizing my homework for the night, and the last fifteen minutes of the movie praying for a plot twist. Basically, every time the movie reached a point where it could have taken a turn for the epic, it instead settled for less.
So, in essence, the number "Nine" has delivered both my "Movie of the Year" and my "Movie I Wish I Hadn't Seen ANY Year".
And yes, this was worth making a journal for.
